Интервью с издателем

How would you describe Duet Night Abyss? Where do things stand with the game as of now?

Deca Bear as Game Producer: Duet Night Abyss offers an exciting mix of action Role-Playing Games. It’s unique in its twin storylines. We aim to offer players an immersive and fun gaming experience without any unnecessary pressure or stress.

Worldwide, a single Technical Trial and two Private Beta Trials have been carried out. Using input from players and evaluating data performance, the game has been consistently improved. We’re thrilled to share that the worldwide release is set for October 28, 2025.

In this new update, we’ve implemented substantial improvements to both our stamina system and monetization structure. Starting from now, every character and weapon can be obtained without any charges. As for the future, we’re diligently working on more updates, aiming to consistently provide top-notch content for players in the subsequent versions.

The anime-style game market has been expanding in recent years. What inspired you to support this project, and what do you see for the future of these types of games?

CEO Daniel Wu from Hero Games remarks that the team behind Duet Night Abyss aligns beautifully with our company — they embody a daring, somewhat rebellious creative energy, paired with an exceptional artistic vision. This mirrors a profound love for and comprehension of the ACGN (animation, comics, and games) culture, allowing them to generate content that genuinely strikes a chord with fans in this specific genre.

The essence of engaging content-focused ACGN productions is rooted within their content. I’m convinced that exceptional material, regardless if it’s ACGN or otherwise, has a knack for captivating audiences and making its mark during any period.

As a passionate fan, I’m thrilled to share that even before Duet Night Abyss received the green light, we had amassed substantial experience through strategic investments in top-tier studios. For instance, Kuro Games, renowned for their globally acclaimed title Punishing: Gray Raven, was simultaneously working on Wuthering Waves. Similarly, Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong — a project we were backing — was already creating a global buzz among gamers worldwide.

to craft a game that we could genuinely call ours — and this vision led us to the inception of Duet Night Abyss.

When was the concept of this game first brought to you? Has it changed or evolved since then?

Duet Night Abyss» — A Game Born from a Deep Appreciation for Anime-Inspired Culture and Action Games

As both a producer and an avid gamer, I’ve noticed a growing enthusiasm among gamers for titles inspired by anime that offer captivating stories alongside exhilarating combat experiences. Recognizing the potential of this niche market to expand further, I believe that top-tier content, innovative gameplay, and player-friendly systems will be crucial elements for any game’s success. With these ideals in mind, we embarked on creating Duet Night Abyss.

Throughout the entire development process, the fundamental idea and aspirations for the game have stayed unchanged. With constant improvement and dedication, our goal is to communicate our unique creative vision and enthusiasm to players globally.

The story is told from the perspectives of two protagonists. How did the idea of this dual narrative originate, and what benefits does this approach provide?

In the tale of Duet Night Abyss, seeing things from just one angle doesn’t give a full picture. By incorporating two viewpoints, we bring a new depth to the story, enabling players to grasp the world with a richer understanding and appreciation for its complexities. This is the main motivation behind the dual narrative in Duet Night Abyss.

In a game featuring dual narratives, players get the chance to delve into the unique stories of multiple protagonists. Each character has their own paths, roles, and relationships, giving players an opportunity to explore two different perspectives within the same game. As the storylines converge at certain points, players will be treated to unforeseen and thrilling twists.

In the next edition, I’m thrilled to mention that we’ve included the option for players to control the main characters! This is designed to draw us even deeper into the narrative, making the story feel more personal and engaging.

Could you give us an overview of the game’s hybrid action RPG combat system? What makes Duet Night Abyss unique in the genre?

Deca Bear Game: Beyond the standard jumps, we’ve incorporated the Helix Leap move, enabling characters to cover large distances at great speed. Each character can carry both melee and ranged weapons, effortlessly transitioning between close-quarters and long-distance combat in fights.

As for the skill mechanism, we chose a brief cool-down period, and in certain instances, no cool-down at all, to enable characters to repeatedly use their abilities if they maintain adequate Sanity levels.

Furthermore, Demon Wedges can be added to characters or weapons, enhancing their stats while altering game mechanics and attack styles. This provides numerous opportunities for players to create unique and adaptable character setups.

In the course of play, you have the option to pick out two characters who will serve as your AI allies, helping you in fights and thus easing the intensity of gameplay.

Some of the most common issues players have with gacha games are pay-to-win mechanics and excessive grinding. What does Duet Night Abyss do to address these problems?

Creator of Deca Bear: For years, I’ve nurtured a dream to craft an action role-playing game (RPG) with a unique anime flair based on my background in art and design for such games. However, the market for these types of games is sometimes criticized for including excessive grinding and pay-to-win elements. To address this, we’ve embarked on creating a genuinely player-friendly free-to-play (F2P) RPG experience. In our game, players are free to explore and enjoy the game at their own pace without being pressured or hindered by such mechanics.

Our development team has prioritized striking a balance between revenue generation and player enjoyment as their primary objective. In our most recent updates to Duet Night Abyss, we’ve significantly revamped the monetization structure: character advertisements and star ratings for characters and weapons have been eliminated, making it possible for players to acquire all characters and weapons at no cost.

In an effort to lighten the load on players, the Demon Wedge system offers permanent stat enhancements that can be applied across its category upon acquisition. Meanwhile, in commissions, the Sigil System lets gamers summon AI allies to aid in battles, thereby enhancing efficiency and minimizing the need for prolonged grinding. Furthermore, we’ve eliminated the stamina system for commissions to provide a more comfortable and player-friendly experience, especially for free-to-play users.

Those changes are pretty significant. What went into that decision? As producer, did you have any concerns about that choice?

In simple terms, our main goal with Duet Night Abyss is to create an exceptional, lasting, and genuinely user-friendly gaming environment that caters to people worldwide. The monetization strategy should enhance, rather than detract from, the enjoyment of playing the game.

The decision to get rid of character banners and weapon rating stars was primarily based on the valuable input from players and our team’s dedication to establishing a more equitable, lasting progression structure.

Instead of seizing immediate profit chances, I think focusing on long-term strategies that increase player involvement and credibility could lead to a stronger and more sustainable business in the future.

These changes mean giving up some common monetization methods. As the CEO, what were your feelings on that decision?

Daniel Wu: Just like our producer, I hold a similar perspective regarding this issue. Being a gamer personally, I greatly appreciate designs that are friendly to players. That’s why we prioritize player feedback significantly in our work. Our adjustments are geared towards fulfilling player expectations and crafting an experience that truly strikes a chord with them.

From a corporate standpoint, although it might involve missing out on immediate profit-making chances, I firmly think this decision will boost player interaction and our reputation over time. In the grand scheme of things, it will foster a sturdier, long-lasting business strategy.

Throughout the process of development, how important has player feedback been? What areas of the game have been most popular, and what areas do you still need to improve based on the feedback you’ve gotten?

In our game Deca Bear, we’ve consistently valued player feedback above all else. Previously, some players voiced concerns about our monetization system. In a live service game, we believe a business model that relies on trust from players is crucial. With this update, we’ve made those necessary adjustments to enhance the player experience and ensure the game’s longevity.

Throughout the process, there have been ongoing debates and apprehensions about potential effects — whether the changes could influence our income structure or disrupt core player interaction. However, we’ve consistently held onto the conviction that fostering a thriving ecosystem and nurturing strong player loyalty is of greater value than immediate profits.

Our leadership, including CEO Daniel, and our dedicated publishing team are wholeheartedly behind us. The common objective among us all is to develop a game that keeps players engaged and fosters long-term connections. That’s where most of our energies are focused. We will continually evaluate the new designs and make necessary adjustments to ensure they meet their mark.

You’ve now announced the upcoming global launch, so what’s next on the roadmap? Do you have a set cadence for the release of new information going forward?

Deca Bear: Moving forward, it’s essential that we gear up for a global release — a significant milestone for our team. To guarantee the upcoming version operates flawlessly and provides a seamless, enjoyable user experience, we will persistently fine-tune and tweak it before the launch date.

For now, all the material for this specific release is being created. While some fresh visuals have been unveiled via our special program, there’s a substantial amount of additional content yet to come. This includes trailers and character introductions, which we will be posting on Duet Night Abyss’ social media platforms — so keep an eye out!

What are you most looking forward to hearing from players about once they get their hands on the game after launch?

Deca Bear: We greatly appreciate any input from our players, be it regarding the narrative, battles, personalities, or aesthetics. We’re open to hearing all feedback and plan to consistently update and enhance the game based on it.

We know about the PC and mobile versions of the game. Are there plans to bring it to other platforms?

As a dedicated Deca Bear fan, I’m thrilled to share that our team is tirelessly working to ensure the game is perfectly tuned for controller usage. In our recent Closed Beta Test, we introduced an initial test phase for this feature. Furthermore, our vision extends beyond just one platform; we aim to broaden the game’s reach, offering players a variety of platforms to engage and enjoy Deca Bear on!

What does success for Duet Night Abyss look like to you? What is your goal for the game, and how do you expect it to grow in the future?

Daniel Wu: While some might consider return on investment as the primary indicator of a game’s success from a business perspective, I personally believe that a game’s true success extends far beyond just financial metrics. For me, it’s about fostering a team that consistently grows and develops its skills, pushing technological boundaries, innovating where we can, nurturing the long-term health of our product’s ecosystem, and establishing meaningful, deep connections with our players.

So, if we persist in moving forward with the correct guiding principle and consistently work on these key aspects, our chances of reaching success will grow more likely.

Is there anything else you’d like to say to players who are interested in Duet Night Abyss?
