This sequel to the 2017 game «Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice» received favorable reviews and several awards at The Game Awards 2024. Now, there are rumors that «Hellblade 2» might also become available on PlayStation, following the announcement of other first-party games such as «Forza Horizon 5«, «Age of Empires 2«, and «Age of Mythology: Retold» making a cross-platform transition in recent weeks.
Hellblade 2 could be revealed for the PS5 soon, according to Jez Corden from Windows Central on Twitter. He has hinted that the action-packed game is not a matter of if, but when, and he believes this announcement might come during the State of Play livestream scheduled for February 12, 2025. Additionally, Corden also indicated that another Xbox exclusive title, South of Midnight, which is set to release in April 2025, could eventually be available on PlayStation as well.
Hellblade 2 May Join the Growing List of Xbox Console Exclusives Coming to PlayStation
If the recent report is accurate, it’s possible that Hellblade 2 will be part of Xbox’s ongoing strategy to bring its games to other platforms such as Nintendo and PlayStation. This tactic has already resulted in a number of Xbox-published games, like Pentiment from 2022 and the upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages, being made available on rival consoles. Given this trend, it seems more likely than not that popular Microsoft-owned games like Hellblade 2 could indeed make their way to other platforms.
In addition to Hellblade 2, there have been whispers that some other Xbox exclusive titles might also appear on the PS5. However, only Age of Mythology: Retold has been officially verified for PlayStation, while the announcements regarding Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and Flight Simulator are still pending.
